At first glance one would not think much of the lotus flower. The symmetry and color of the plant are sure to stand out, but the delicate exterior of the lotus flower has a deeper meaning. In many Eastern cultures, this flower carries a great deal of symbolic weight and is considered one of the most sacred plants in the world. So, what about this particular flower?

To begin with, the lotus flower has a longer life cycle than any other plant. Its roots are covered with mud, and it sinks into the river every night and miraculously blooms again the next morning and is brilliantly clean. In many cultures, this process is associated with flower regeneration and spiritual enlightenment. With the daily process of life, death and resurrection, it is not surprising that the lotus flower has such symbolism.

Because of these meanings, the lotus flower is associated with divine images in many cultures. In Hindu culture, gods and goddesses are said to sit on lotus thrones. A long-standing Buddhist story states that the Supreme Buddha appeared on a floating lotus flower and that the lotus flower bloomed in his first footsteps on earth.

The daily resurrection of the lotus flower is certainly interesting and certainly symbolizes rebirth. (This makes a great gift for anyone recovering from an injury or traumatic experience.) But the flower has an interesting desire to live. A lotus seed can withstand thousands of years without water and can germinate two centuries later.

It also blooms in many instances, such as mud in the dark river waters of Australia or South Asia. Not only does it find a sanctuary in the mouth, but because of the protective layer of wax on its petals, its beauty is never affected when it blooms again every morning. It will be resurrected, and it is as beautiful as it was last seen. While refusing to acknowledge defeat, it is almost impossible not to associate it with this unshakable faith. Although the lotus flower is often referred to by cultures as a spiritual figure, it is a symbol of faith within us. It specifically aims to edit the Buddhist proverb; Living by unwavering faith like the lotus flower ensures a more beautiful rebirth.
